Ice about 4 in some fishing activity in front o Harvey's marine

8/28 update report

I have fished 4 days out of the last 7 catching fish on each day averaging over 20 fish each time.
My best day was Wednesday 8/27 with over 40 fish in 3 1/2 hours 5 nice keeper eyes.
Shinny blades with pink purple or blue beads working well. the lake level is dropping so I troll a little shallower. Hot spot seems to be SE of middle grounds.

8/11 thrugh 8/20 report

Fished Monday in the fog caught 2 keeper eyes 7 small eyes 4n pike 4 rock bass 1 gill.
the weather turned poor and I didn't fish until Wednesday the 20 on the lake under cloudy choppy weather caught 2 more keeper eyes 7 small eyes  5 pike 2 gills 1 small mouth 1 large mouth 1 perch.
Fish are still biting just need the weather to cooperate.

Saturday 8/9 and Sunday 8/10 report

Saturday Tom from the Houghton Lake fished with me fished from 6:30 to 11 the bite was slow but we caught a variety of fish. Mostly rock bass and small eyes put 1 keeper eye a pike and some pan fish in the live well so Tom could have a fish dinner. It was an enjoyable day with sunny calm waters
as they say a bad fishing is better than any day at work.

Sunday fished alone from 6:45 until 11:15 caught 0ver 30fish had 4 nice eyes in the live well. Jon and Nancy get these fish in return for the pontoon ride and dinner at the Limberlost.MY day total fish count was 15 eyes 6 rock bass 5 pike 5 perch 1 gill

Thursday 8/7 Friday 8/8 report

Light chop early but fishing was good caught 31 fish in 3 and 1/2 hours. 3 keeper eyes 5 small eyes 10 rock bass 9 pike 1 perch 1 large mouth 1 large crappie 1 gill . Fishing SE end of middle grounds with shinny blades. crawlers and leaches working well.

Friday calm start fished from 6:30 until 11 AM same area as Thursday same colors and bait caught 45 fish 2 keeper eyes 17 small eyes 14 rock bass 5 pike 4 perch 2 large mouth 1 sun fish. Same plan for Saturday

Wednesday 8/6 report

6:30 start foggy mild calm bite slow until fog lifted then picked up caught 30 fish and quit fishing at 11.  Three keeper eyes 18 small eyes 2 pike 4 large mouth 2 gills 1 rock bass. Shinny blades with pink or clear beads working well. Water temp in the 70 degree range and weather is supposed to stay good through the weekend

8/2 Saturday 8/3 Sunday 8/4 Monday report

Cloudy cool start fished 3 hours 2 keeper eyes 5 small eyes 3 pike 7 rock bass 3 sunfish 1 gill 1 large mouth. The chief called reported a limit of nice eyes on shinny blades with pink beads.

Sunday cloudy start with fog coming in lake was flat and buggy 1 keeper eye 2 small eyes 3 pike 5 rock bass 2 perch 1 gill 1 sun fish.

Monday cloudy light chop 2 keeper eyes 13 small eyes 5 rock bass 2 pike 2 perch 2 gills 1 sun fish
Still using shiny blades trolled 4 hours several other boats drifting but not much action.

7/30 7/31 8/1 report

Wednesday fishin girl and me for 3 hours around 20 fish with 3 keeper eyes.
Thursday with Jon in the boat 4 keeper eyes and a nice crappie in the live well.
Friday Jon in the boat for about 2 1/2 hours 3 keeper eyes and a nice perch to be cleaned.
3 good days fishing weather still cool for time of year hope Aug. will warm up and the bite will pick up

Saturday only 1 1/2 hours on the lake before I was chased off by thunder storms.
4 small eyes 3 rockbass 1 large mouth 1 gill.

Sunday fished in the fog for about 4 hours caught over 40 fish 1 keeper eye 3 small eyes 13 pike 13 rock bass 5 perch 4 large mouth 1 gill 1 sun fish . SE corner of the middle grounds in 9 to 11 feet of water shinny blades with either 1/2 crawler or leaches

Thursday 7/24 and Friday 7/25 report

Missed Tues. and Wednesday fishing  but back at it on Thursday clear cold start after night rains fishing was slow only 15 fish in 3 hours 2 keeper eyes 2 small eyes 4 pike 3 rock bass  2 large mouth
1 gill.

Friday cloudy cold 43 choppy fished 5 hours 25 fish  2 keeper eyes 12 small eyes 4 pike 1 rock bass 1 perch3 gills 1 sun fish 1 nice crappie that went in the live well. I trolled and drifted caught fish both ways shinny blades working well

Monday 7/21 report

On the lake with lines in by 6:20 trolled 3 different edges caught keepers on everyone.
Quit fishing at 10:30 with my limit of eyes. Color was shiny blades and purple and pink beads.
I also caught 10 small eyes 6 rock bass 2 pike 2 perch a large  mouth and a nice gill.
Water temp is back in the 70 degree range fish should be good .

Sunday 7/20 report

Fished with Jon about 3 hours nice  morning bite a little slow we still boated over 2o fish including 2 keeper eyes and a 10 in perch that will be cleaned for the next fish fry.

Saturday 7/19 report

A little warmer this morning 55 started fishing 6:15. The bite was fast caught 0ver 40 fish by 10:15.
2 keeper eyes 20 small eyes 10 pike 4 r0ck bass 2 gills 2 perch 2 large mouth 1 small mouth 1 sun fish. Great day on the lake all fish were caught SE of the middle grounds in 9 to 11 ft of water
color didn't seem to mater.

Thursday 7/17 and Friday 7/18 report

After 3 nasty days finally got back on the water for  a couple hours  Thursday still quite cool bite was slow only 2 small eyes 3 pike and a rock bass.
Friday morning temp below 50 bite picked up a little managed 2 keeper eyes 8 small eyes 8 rock bass 3 pike perch  2 gills. Weather is warming up so fish should start biting.

7/12 reportSaturday

3 hours fishing with Jon and Terry 4 keeper eyes and about 20 or so misc fish. Started to warm up  but quite choppy silver blade with purple beads caught the most fish. Sunday looks to be to windy for fishing. I will post when I fish agian

Fishing has been slow windy rain cool. Fished three hours Thursday cold start 41 degrees 1 keeper eye 6 small eyes 2 rock bass 1 large mouth. Friday with Jon 2 keepers and around 20 other fish (Jon with the keepers). Cool weather has slowed the bite it will pick up when the weather warms.

Busy weekend at the Ace Hole 4th of July fish fry. Over 45 people having fun and eating fish.and fixen's . I fished with my son about 3 hours Saturday caught 3 keeper eyes and a nice pike plus many other small fish. Heres som pictures of the fish fry.

Poor weather has kept me of the lake for 4 days went Thursday for a cold windy hour 3 small eyes
2 line breaking pike. Friday cool breezy morning 48 degrees 1 keeper eye 6 small eyes 3 pike 3 perch 3 rock bass 1 gill. will try Saturday morning then fish fry for the neighbors

Saturday 6/28 report

Jon Green Walleye Classic great fun and fishing. Sad news the Ace did not win or catch the biggest
fish. rumors of retirement are in the air. 9 boats 20 fishermen took part in the second annual event. 
31 keepers measured and the winners with 7 keepers at over 110 in were Dave and Tim the ringer from Alpena the biggest fish title went to Eric with a nice 20 inch eye.

A fish fry followed thanks to my Kids and Wives of the fishermen.

Friday 6/27 report

Big Jon and ace spent 3 hours scouting for active fish for Saturdays Jon Green Walleye Classic.

Boated 5 keeper eyes along with many small eyes,pike, rock bass, perch, and a nice large mouth.

Tomorrows contest will have 9 boats with 20 fishermen should be fun with a good fish fry.

Wednesday 6/25 report

Cloudy damp start this morning trolled the edge from the public launch SE towards Prudenville.
Bite was a little slow but I was able to catch 5 keepers in 3 1/2 hours 7 small eyes 2 pike 2 rock bass
1 gill 1 sun fish so it was a great day.

Monday 6/23 report

Cool cloudy light chop to start the day fished 3 1/2 hours 1 keeper eye 6 small eyes 6 pike
(1 was 28 in. went to Dan with the eye) 4 rock bass 3 perch 2 sun fish 1 large mouth.
I felt the bite was a little slow because of the incoming weather change but it was still a good day fishing.

Sunday 6/22 report

Fished with son in law Chuck this morning for about 5 hours caught many fish of all kinds
Approx 40 t0 50. 6 nice keeper eyes and a nice sun fish were cleaned and sent home to be cooked for Sunday dinner.

 

Friday 6/21 report

Cool morning start light winds lines in 5:50 lines out 7:20 5 nice keeper eyes 4 small eyes 1each
pike large mouth rock bass perch the bite was good. Hit all 3 colors well worms or leaches bouth worked.

5/17 to 5/20 report

2 days of rain cold wind then Thursday I fished in the cool morning chop 3 keeper eyes 8 small eyes 4 pike 4 rock bass 2 perch 1 sun fish drifted and trolled hard to keep on course in the chop.

Friday NE chop poor results drifting and trolling only 4 small eyes 2 pike 2 perch 1 crappie 1 rock bass 3 gills 3 sunfish.

Monday 6/16 report

Weekend of 6/14 6/15 poor fishing , 2hours on Saturday 10 fish 1 keeper eye 3 small eyes 4 pike 1 perch 1 bass cold start 38 degrees choppy water quit early. Sunday windy no fishing.

Monday mild with light chop at start fished 4 1/2 hours 3 keeper eyes 8 small eyes 4 pike 4 rock bass 3 sunfish 1 small mouth not bad white blades working well in the churned up water. Thunder storms maybe for Tuesday will post if I fish.

Thursday 6/12 report

Fished 4 1/2 hours had fair results 3 keeper eyes 8 small eyes 3 pike 2 perch 1 gill 1 bass.

Tuesday 6/10 report

Cool and calm a little buggy fished from 5:40 until 10:30 caught 29 fish. 5 keeper eyes 11 small eyes
7 pike 3 rock bass 1 perch. Color of the day was orange blades. The chief also had a limit of eyes and my neighbor had 4 keepers. Pictured is my catch of the day

Monday 6/9 report

Cool start trolled 4  different edges hunting for keepers fished 4 1/2 caught 15 small eyes 8 pike 3 rock bass 1 sunfish. No keeper eyes but one pike was 27 and the sun fish around 10 both are back in the lake. I will try  on Tuesday

Weekend 6/7 6/8 report

Saturday only fished about 2 hours with Jon 2 keeper eyes 8 small eyes 2 pike 3 perch and 1 rock bass warm and buggy.

Sunday cool and light chop fished about 2 1/2 hours 3 keeper eyes 12 small eyes 6 pike 5 perch.
Cold front moving through slowed the bite.

Friday /6 report

Cold and calm lines in 5:45 out at 8 5 keeper eyes 9 small eyes 1 pike.
Trolled third dropoff edge out front first time this year it held nice fish
3keepers over 18 in 2 16 in. purple blades worked well.both leaches and crawlers
caught fish.

Thursday 6/5 report

Cold AM start 43 degrees light chop trolled until the wind picked up then drifted and trolled again.
the bite was slow but I still ended with 3 keeper eyes 5 small eyes 2 pike 1 perch.

Wednesday 6/4 report

Tuesday windy 15 to 25 mph lake was rolling no fishing.

Wednesday cool calm fished 4 1/2 hours  2 keeper eyes 4 small eyes 2 pike 2 bass.
Water was dirty with a lot of floating weeds slowing the bite did a lot of trolling for a few fish.

Monday 6/2 report

A light chop this morning started at 5:35 quit 8:35 . 5 keeper eyes 6 small eyes 4 pike
(three of the pike were over 24 in) great day. the big eye in the picture was over 19 in.

Sunday 6/1 report

A little windy but my fishing girl and I drifted and trolled from 7 until 10 AM.
The bite was slow but we both caught a keeper eye several small eyes plus perch
rock bass and blue gills. Any day fishing with my daughter is a great day. We finished
the day by watching my grandsons graduation ceremony's.

Saturday 5/31 report

Picture shows this morning limit catch. 5 nice eyes the largest 19 1/2 in. Fished from 5:40 until 7:30 trolled the edge from Songers cabins east towards the launch and back west 2 and 1/2 rounds and was done caught 4 small eyes and 1 pike also. Purple blades with white beads did best. the wind made boat control difficult but things worked out well.

Thursday 5/29 and Friday 5/30 report

Thursday fished from 6 until 10 AM trolling along the edge from the public launch SE towards Prudenville and back caught a few but not as many as Wednesday so I moved and trolled the next edge W towards songers point and back caught a few more. The days total was 1 keeper eye 14 small eyes 3 pike 3 bass 1 rock bass.

Friday started in front of Songers cabins and trolled east and west on the edge.
I fished from 5:30 until 8 AM caught 5 keeper eyes 3 small eyes 3 pike.
Changed color to purple and shiny blades. Water temp is now 69.

Wednesday 5/28 report

NE wind cloudy and cool at5:55 AM when I started to fish. Trolled the same edge as the last two days fish still biting caught 2 keeper eyes 14 small eyes and 5 pike in 3 hours.

Same color white blades and chartreuse blades tipped with crawlers.
water is now 66.

Tuesday 5/27 report

Lines in by 6:00 AM same troll area as Monday lines out at 10:am.
Total catch 36 small eyes 4 keeper eyes 6 pike 1 perch 1 gill 1 crappie.
This was the most fish I've caught in one day in 17 years.
The eyes must be schooled in this small area Hard to explain.
White blades and chartreuse blades both worked well.
I know the fish will move but the weather is supposed to be nice
for the next few days fishing should be great.

Memorial weekend report

Saturday morning cool light winds big Jon and Ace fished 3 hours 1 keeper eye 10 pike 3 perch.
Trolled SE edge of middle grounds then moved  and trolled cut river to flint rd. then followed edge parallel to long point.

Sunday morning Jon and Ace trolled 4 different edges caught only 2 pike in 3 hours nice weather but slow bite.

Monday morning Ace alone tried drifting by drop at the public launch of rd.100 no action started trolling weed edge SE toward Prudenville caught 1 perch 1 pike. Trolled toward Johnson point started catching small eyes in a short stretch after 3 hours of trolling caught 26 eyes only 2 keepers but a lot of action. White blades on my harnesses worked best. water temp is now over 60.
Fishing should pick up.

Monday 5/ 19 report

Cool morning light SW wind fished from 6:30 until 10 caught 4 pike and 1 small eye.

Water temp rose only 2 degrees. Trolled in front of the public launch of county rd. 100.

Rain for tues  hope it comes late so I can fish in the AM

Week end 5/ 17 5/18 report

Fished Saturday morning with big Jon caughtn6 pike 2 bass.

Trolled the edge from cut river towards flint road then SW towards long point.

The bite was slow water temp has dropped 6 degrees might be the problem.

Windy Sunday no fishing.

Wednesday 5/14 report

Cool start light NE wind. Trolled the drop along old trail towards Prudenville then west on second

edge back towards Songer's cabins caught 1 pike. Moved to the cut river trolled the edge to flint rd. caught 6 more pike 4 bass 1 crappie and 1 keeper eye.

Water temp up to 59 fishing should improve. Looks like rain for Thursday might fish Friday.

Sat 5/11 report

Clouds calm mild morning lines in by 6:30 light rain started but I kept fishing. Nice

rainbow caught 3 keeper eyes 1 small eye 7 bass [large and small mouths] 4 pike 2 crappies.

Fish hit white blades best I fished the edge from cut river to flint rd. most fish hit between 8 and 10 feet where weeds are starting to grow.

Monday 5/5 report

33 degrees when I started fishing at 7 this morning. Trolled shore line from cut river to Flint rd.

for 3 1/2 hours caught 1 small mouth and 3 pike water needs to warm up. only saw 3 other boats.

Warming trend starting Thursday fishing should pick up this weekend.

Saturday 5/3 post

Day 8 of walleye season I've  fished a total of 3 hours rainy and nasty today no fishing.

bar talk has crappies hitting in the canals and a few eyes late in the day around the cut river.

Day 5 of walleye season with only 1 hour of fishing. Hope for a break in the weather.
