Cloudy cool light wind to start fished 4 1/2 hours caught 25 fish.

8 small eyes 7 perch 6 pike 1 gill 1 crappie 1 rocky 1 large mouth.

Changed blade color shinny worked well. No keeper eyes but 1 pike was close to 30 in.

Tuesday 7/30 report

Poor fishing big Jon and Ace caught only 8 fish Jon 1 keeper eye no other eyes.

Calm cool start warmed up but the bite was slow.

Windy Sunday no fishing.

Monday choppy damp I fished about 4 hours wind made boat control difficult

I ended with 4 keeper eyes 9 small eyes 2 pike 1 perch 1 rock bass 1 large mouth 1 sunfish.

I'm still fishing public launch drop using chartreuse blades trolling 9 to 11 feet of water in weeds.

Saturday 7/27 report

No fishing Friday windy rain.

Late start Saturday 8:15 cool light chop from NW fished 4 hours.

Trolled from public launch towards Prudenville and back 3 circuits.

2 keeper eyes 11 small eyes 3 perch 3 pike 3 bass 1 sunfish 1 crappie.

Looks like rain and wind for Sunday. Cold front moving through should warm up Monday or Tuesday.

Thursday 7/25 report

Cool this morning light NE wind fished from 6:15 until 9 am 17 fish.

Weed edge from public launch SE towards Prudenville 2 complete rounds.

1 keeper eye (18 1/2 in.) 9 small eyes 1 pike (27 in) 1 perch (12 in.) 2 rockies

1 large mouth 1 sun fish I gill good day fishing wind came up I quit.

Looks like wind and rain for Friday might be a day off from fishing.

Wednesday 7/24 report

Tuesday was a no fishing day windy.

Cold front coming through Wednesday bite was slow.

Fished about 4 hours boated 15 fish, 2 keeper eyes 7 small eyes 3 large mouth

1 pike 1 perch 1 crappie.

Monday 7/22 report

Cool light wind from SE fished the public launch weed edge off county rd. 100.

Caught 5 keeper eyes 9 small eyes 2 pike 1 perch 1 crappie in 1 hour and 45 min.

Chartreuse still good choice worms out fished leaches.

Sunday 7/21 report

Big Jon and Ace late start 9 am until 10:45 caught 14 0r 15 fish .

1 keeper eye 4 small eyes and 9 or 10 small fish gills sunnies rockies and 1 each pike and large mouth.

Cool and calm nice 2 hours .

Saturday 7/20 report

No fishing Friday windy stormy.

Saturday light chop cooler fished 6 1/2 hours 18 fish.

2 keeper eyes 9 small eyes 3 perch 1 each sun fish blue gill pike large mouth bass.

Trolled and drifted worms worked better than leaches chartreuse still blade of choice

thursday 7/18 report

Pictured my keepers 4 eyes 1 perch from a catch of 28 fish in 4 hours.

Fish are still hitting chartreus blades in and around weeds from 9 to 12 feet.

1/2 crawler and leaches work for me. Trolling produced the keepers but drifting

kept me very busy trying to keep bait on the hooks.

wednesday 7/17 report

Short day on the water 6 until 9. Warm light chop trolled my NS drift edge .

Caught 2 keeper eyes 6 small eyes and 9 other pan fish with a nice small mouth to round out the trip.

Still using chartreuse blades. Wind was out of the SW making this a good drifting edge one drift 3 small fish in 5 min. wish I had more time.

Tuesday 7/16 report

Hot and calm lines in by 6 out before 10.

Trolled from Songers to public launch then along edge towards Prudenville.

Caught over 25 fish busy day 2 keeper eyes 10 small eyes and rock bass sun fish gills perch and small mouth bass no pike.

Chartreuse blades working best. Small fish cost me over a dozen worms. 

Sunday 7/14 report

Warm sunny start at 6:30 fished until about 11 caught 22 fish.

3 keeper eyes 8 small eyes 5 pike (a 27 in for Dan) 3 sunfish

1 gill 1 small mouth 1 perch. Hot when I quit.

Dimpled chartreuse blade worked best with 1/2 crawler.

Saturday 7/13 report

Jon and Ace 6 until 9:30 slow fishing 1 keeper eye 5 small eyes 5 rock bass 2 perch 1 sun fish.

Light chop from SE tried both trolling and drifting  bite was slow we made several color changes and

fished several weed edges maybe tomorrow will be better.

7/12 report

Three day report Wednesday  winds gusting over 20 no fishing.

Thursday Dr. visits no fishing. Chief reported poor catch still choppy.

Friday Big Jon and Ace fished 4 hours  total fish 20 0nly 1 keeper eye.

Tuesday 7/9 report

Cloudy and damp start light WNW winds tried 3 edges before hitting fish.

Changed to a chartreuse and shiny blade caught 2 keeper eyes 5 small eyes 6 pan fish 2 smallies

Thunder shower threat tonight hope to get out in the morning.

Sunday  son in law John and young lady friend Brooke fished about 3 hours caught about a dozen fish. This was Brooks first time on Houghton lake she caught 1 keeper eye 1 small eye 1 perch and 1 sun fish not bad for an 11 year old she shows promise of becoming a good fishing girl.

Monday no fishing  rain pending started about 9 lasted until 3 will try on Tuesday.

Saturday 7/6 report

Cathy and dad fished from 6 until about 10 caught 31 fish (16 to 15 the ace loses)

4 nice keeper eyes small eyes ,sun fish,rock bass,perch, gills . made up the rest of catch.

Need yellow blades for best bite.

4 th of July report 2013

By myself this morning fishing SE edge of the middle grounds for 4 hours.

Days catch 2 keeper eyes 10 small eyes 2 pike 3 perch 3 rock bass 2 gills 1 large mouth.

A dozen boats in this area this morning the wind made trolling difficult.

Not a bad day 2 perch were over 10 inches. I should have company in the boat for the weekend.

Wednesday 7/3 report

The story of the picture Tyler in the cool shirt and the Ace with Tyler's dad are holding todays

2 boat total of 5 keeper eyes 1 perch 1 sun fish 1 gill. Tyler was the catcher of 3 keeper eyes

6 small eyes 3 pike 5 rock bass 3 sunnies 2 perch 1 gill. all I had to do was drive the boat.

Good job Tyler you out fished both your dad and Jon in their boat.

Tuesday 7/2 report

Cloudy and cool with NE wind choppy when I went to my fishing area.

Trolled about 3 hours had rain but kept fishing caught 3 keeper eyes 2 small eyes 3 pan fish.

Slow bite try again in the morning

Monday 7/1 report

Weather like yesterday with stiff NE wind tried same spot SE of the middle grounds.

Boat control was the key to catching fish stayed on the north edge trolling east to west .

Caught 5 keeper eyes 11 small eyes 9 perch 3 pike 2 gills 1 sun fish and 1 nice smallmouth.

Yellow working best fish about 5 hours bumpy ride in.

 

 

Sunday 6/30 report

Started out at 6 AM the water was quit choppy had a ruff ride out to SE edge of the middle grounds.

Fished about 3 hours trolling and drifting caught 2 keeper eyes 8 small eyes 6 pike 5 perch 1 bass.

trolling produced most fish yellow blades working well.
